I feel it was privilege to have known and "worked" with both Joan and Dave for almost ten years at the Lake Eustis Sailing Club, and to have their full support every year at the Mount Dora Yacht Club Annual Regatta.

Both were totally dedicated to their responsibilities in planning and then conducting races. And I particularly remember that it was Joan who went out of her way to welcome me onto the signal boat and make me feel a part of the team.

While I learned a great deal from Dave about RC management it was Joan's dedication that I most admired: in the mundane, but vital, task of record-keeping - in all weathers from desperately trying to stay out of the sun, to being bundled up with hat, scarf, gloves and blankets around her legs in cold weather, to sticking it out even in pouring rain. She was a real trooper!

I am so sorry that I will not get to see her again when I return to Florida later this year, but am happy to know that she and Dave are now together again.

Joan was a wonderful person and friend. Both Joan and Dave were very special to me. It was as if I had been reunited with my family again. Simply put, they were just good, down-to-earth people. Joan and I shared a lot of good laughs and good conversations about their past, children and every sort of thing. We both shared a love of knitting and crocheting and spent time pouring over pattern books, making a wish list of projects to start. As members of the sailing club, they gave tirelessly of themselves every race day and every regatta. No matter if it was freezing cold or blistering hot, they were on the water conducting races, supporting the club. I send my condolences and know that I willl miss your mom.

I worked with both Joan and Dave at the school district in Palm Beach County. Dave was my boss for almost 10 years. They were so much in love and I was always so happy to see them together. I used to take care of their house in West Palm Beach when they traveled to see their children. I am happy they are together again. Good folks.

We knew Joan as compassionate, smart, animal lover, good cook, immaculate housekeeper, and all around good friend who adored her husband Dave, loved her children dearly, and was very proud of her grandchildren. Joan and Dave were the first to welcome us to the neighborhood and we shared many special days and events over the next sixteen years. One that we’ll miss most is the annual, quiet Christmas night dinners we shared, just the four of us, marking the end of the hectic holiday season. Our condolences go out to her dear family. We will miss her too.
