Joan S. Mitnik, 85, of Eustis passed away in Orlando on Sunday, May 24, 2009. She was born in Deland and lived in Eustis all her life. She was a member of Saint Thomas Episcopal Church of Eustis and was an organist for her church Read Obituary

In 1944, Joan was my neighbor. She babysat for me and my siblings. A very goodnatured woman who loved our family, she loved her cat as well. Her father taught me to play chess. Our lives were made richer by knowing these good people.##imported-begin##dennis wise##imported-end##
Some people touch your life forever even though you don't know it at the time. Mrs. Mitnik was a Guidance Counselor when I was at Mt. Dora High School, I remember she always and I mean always had a smile on her face! You could tell she loved her job and all of the students at school. She and Mrs. Myslik were quite the team in the Guidance office, always felt welcome to just stop in and say hello. Thank you for sharing her with us, she will be missed.
