Jerry D. Goodman's Obituary
Jerry D. Goodman 75, of Eustis, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, March 18, 2018. He was born in Boone, North Carolina, and moved to King George, Virginia at an early age. Jerry graduated from King George High School in 1961, and eventually became co-owner of Goodman Pulp & Timber. He worked most of his life in the lumber business, eventually owning his own pulp wood business. Jerry loved the King George community and was always involved in community activities. He was co-founder of the King George Youth Football league, and was a member of the King George Quarterback Club for many years. He was elected to the King George County Board of Supervisors in 1988, and served two terms. Prior to getting elected to the Board, he was a member of the King George Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. His second love
was playing golf, and if he was not tending to County business you could always find him on the golf course. In 2011, Jerry and his wife moved to Eustis, Florida to enjoy the sunshine in their retirement years. He is survived by his wife Grace, who has been by his side for 29 years. He is also survived by his three children: Tracey (Jerry) Wray of Ruther Glen, Virginia, Kelley (Chris) Cox of King George, Virginia and Jay (Heather) Goodman of Lake Elsinore, California, his brother; Thomas Goodman of Dinwiddie, Virginia, sister; Louise Funk of King George, Virginia, six grandchildren and many great grandchildren. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in his honor. A celebration of his life will be planned for later in the year.
