Jennie B. Pomeroy's Obituary
Jennie Baxter Pomeroy, 96, passed away on November 6, 2013, at her home in Altoona, Florida. Mrs. Pomeroy was born in Central Square, New York in 1917, the ninth child of Nathan and Irene Baxter. She graduated from Central Square High School in 1935, in the same class as that of her future husband, Robert Pomeroy.
Married in 1937, she raised their four children while taking an active roll in her church and community, to include the church Women's Society (Past-President), Boy and Girl Scouts, and PTA. She was also an active member of a women’s volunteer group who worked with severely handicapped children at St. Rita's Home for Children of western New York, as well as a Literacy Volunteer, and as a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program.
She and her husband of 74 years visited every State in the Union, as well as Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and several European countries, to include Germany where their eldest son lived and worked as a civilian employee of the Federal Government.
Mrs. Pomeroy is survived by two sons, Robert G. Pomeroy and his wife Charlotte of Arlington, Virginia; John S. Pomeroy (Suzi-deceased) of Fairfax, Vermont; her sister Irene of Syracuse, New York, her brothers Donald of Lakewood, Washington, and Dean of Hastings, New York; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, and her brothers Edwin, Dean, Vernard and John, her sisters Arabella, Velma, Ella and Alice, her oldest child, Elizabeth, and her youngest son, Peter.

A Memorial Service for relatives and close friends will be held in Central Square, New York at a time and date to be determined.
CONTRIBUTIONS IN LIEU OF FLOWERS and other memorials in Jennie’s memory will be gratefully accepted for the Resident Assistance Fund, Lakeview Terrace Residents' Association.
Final Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Central Square, NY.
