Jeanne Todd's Obituary
Jeanne Todd, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026. She was born on October 27, 1938, on a kitchen table in Elizabeth, Indiana, to Ethelyne and Clarence Boyer. Her father’s family maintained deep roots in the land, continuing to farm property granted to them by Andrew Jackson in the 1800s.
Jeanne spent her formative years in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, where she attended high school, before continuing her education at Purdue University, from which she graduated. She began her professional life as an elementary school teacher, a role she held for several years before dedicating herself fully to her family as a homemaker.
As the wife of a member of the United States military, Jeanne moved frequently throughout her early adult years. In 1972, she settled permanently in Florida, where she built a life rich in family, friendships, and community. Over the years, she called many places home, including Orange Park, Jacksonville, Apopka, Umatilla, Wesley Chapel, and most recently, Land O’ Lakes, where she had resided since 2016.
Jeanne was a woman of many interests and talents. A Methodist in faith, she lived her values with quiet strength and grace. She was briefly a member of the Red Hat Society and belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also took pride in her perspectives and civic engagement.
In her younger years, Jeanne was an accomplished competitive diver in both high school and college. Throughout her life, she remained active and engaged, enjoying tennis during her years in Orange Park and Mandarin, playing bridge with friends, and expressing her creativity as an accomplished oil painter. She found great joy in simple pleasures—lunch outings with friends accompanied by a glass of wine, keeping up with current events, and reading.
Jeanne was an avid traveler who delighted in exploring new places both across the United States and abroad. She held a special fondness for the beach, particularly shelling on Sanibel Island. Always spirited, she enjoyed driving her John Cooper Works Mini convertible. A lifelong animal lover, she cherished the companionship of dogs throughout her life and leaves behind her beloved Chihuahua mix, Chance, whom she adopted at a Humane Society gala.
Jeanne was married to Dr. Robert C. Nuss from 1960 to 1984, with whom she raised three children. In 1989, she married William Todd, a Navy captain and fighter pilot who later worked for Ford. Their marriage lasted until his passing in 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Todd; and her eldest daughter, Pamela Nuss, who passed away in 2016.
Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Robin Gefen (Ed Gefen) and Jennifer Nuss; her siblings, Dawn Roxby, Mahlon Boyer, and Marc Boyer; numerous nieces and nephews; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her stepchildren, Bill Todd and Pam Todd, along with three step-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jeanne’s memory to Southeastern Guide Dogs.
