James Ridout's Obituary
James Robert Ridout
September 13, 1940 – November 8, 2025
James Robert Ridout, age 85, of Eustis, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025. Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on September 13, 1940, James lived a life marked by dedication, craftsmanship, and quiet strength.
James proudly served in the United States Army for four years, stationed in Hawaii, before embarking on a long career in telephone utility and technical work. In the 1970s, he relocated to Florida, where he spent the remainder of his life. After retiring more than 20 years ago, James enjoyed his time pursuing hobbies that reflected his love for building and nostalgia—woodworking, watching classic films, and listening to old country music. Among his favorite artists were Marty Robbins and Hank Williams, whose songs often filled his home.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Ridout; his son, Keith Ridout; his parents, Henry and Martha Ridout; and numerous siblings.
James leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in the hearts of those who survive him: his children Jimmy (Terry) Ridout and Lois Ridout; his grandchildren Dana and James; and his siblings John (Connie) Ridout and Judy Ridout.
James will be remembered for his quiet humor, his skilled hands, and the deep love he held for his family and traditions. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the music played, and the craftsmanship he passed down.
