James P. Loflin, Sr's Obituary
James Pitner Loflin, Sr. of Mt. Dora, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on September 21, 2022 at the age of 92. He was born on March 14, 1930 in Augusta, Georgia to Alma Burdette and James Thomas Loflin, the youngest of 7 children. After graduating from The Academy of Richmond County, he served the U.S. Army during the late 1940's. He moved to Lake County, Florida in 1960 as a consulting appraiser for Hunnicut Corp. He then worked for the Lake County Property Appraiser’s Office for 31 years until his retirement in 1992 as Chief Deputy Appraiser. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Joanne Chandler Loflin and his son, Joel Anthony Loflin. He is survived by his children: James Pitner Loflin, Jr. of Clearwater, Florida; Luann Loflin Tam (Hong) of Sierra Madre, California; Janet Loflin McMeen (John) of Nashville, Tennessee; Angela C. Loflin of Nashville, Tennessee; and Daniel M. Loflin (Kylie) of Marietta, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Wanda Loflin of New Iberia, Louisiana; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Saturday October 15, 2022 from 9:30am-10:30am, with a graveside service to follow at 11am at Pine Forest Cemetery in Mount Dora. The family has requested that everyone in attendance please wear face masks.
The family sincerely thanks Sheli Denison for her dedicated care of our beloved father over the last three plus years. We also appreciate the wonderful CNA’s from Concierge Care and supportive staff from VITAS Healthcare.
