Jacklyn Myra Barlow's Obituary
Jackie was born May 22, 1938, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. She became a lifelong Floridian after moving to Miami Beach for her senior year of high school.
Jackie passed away peacefully on the evening of June 3, 2025, at Cornerstone Hospice on Lane Park Road in Tavares. She was a strong, spirited, and supportive presence in the lives of those who knew her.
A lover of writing and reading, Jackie was ahead of her time creating newsletters for homemakers and businesswomen starting in the late 1960s. Mount Dora became her home in 1972, where she was involved in several local businesses including Shady Oaks nursing home and Barlow’s Rent-All. Professionally, she worked for many years as a dedicated legal secretary. In her retirement, she became a passionate freelance writer for several internet blog and content companies.
Jackie cherished her time and conversations with family and friends as well as her many pen pals across the country. Her warmth, insights, and humor left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She became a dedicated Florida Gators football fan – especially during the Tim Tebow years - and continued watching all the televised games every year. Jackie was a lover of angel collectibles, and an enthusiastic fan of the Hallmark Channel, and the Food Network – eager to capture and try recipes.
Jackie is survived by her children Shari Zissman (Michael Murray) and Arnold (Connie) Zissman, and her grandchildren, Blake and Elise. She was deeply loved and will be missed and always remembered.
In keeping with Jackie’s wishes, the family will hold a private gathering at Mount Nebo Kendall Memorial Park in Miami, near the resting places of cherished family members who passed before her.
If you wish to honor Jackie’s memory, the family suggests donating to Cornerstone Hospice Tavares or the charity inspiration of your choice.
