Harry W. “Buck” Dandridge 92, of Eustis passed away on January 17, 2016. He was born in Florala, Alabama on December 6, 1923 to Thomas and Annie Watkins Dandridge. As an infant he moved to Wauchula, Florida then to Leesburg, Flori Read Obituary
The last time I saw Uncle Buck was in the rehab center in Eustis. We talked for several hours about the family and my favorite subject WWII. It was like sitting in the best history class ever. I tried to get him to go out to dinner but all he wanted was a chicken sandwich meal for McDonalds. He loved fast food for some reason. We agreed he would call me as soon as he got home but I was told he moved to Ohio with Drew upon his release. I regret I never got to speak with him again. Uncle Buck was around through all my growing years, family reunions, certain football games, and just visits. I have thought of him often and will miss knowing he is not in this world. I regret I will not be at his services. I will be in Iowa to attend Nathan’s induction ceremony into the United States Navy.

Mr. Dandridge was one of my teachers at Mount Dora School, one of many caring teachers whom I remember. My parents, Dan and Bertha Spear, were also teachers at Mount Dora and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Dandridge. My sincere condolences to Buck's family. Also, my wishes that they find peace.

Mr. Dandridge was loved by us all. One of my memories was that the boys (this was 7th grade) would all line up to see who could take the hardest "lick" from his paddle. (a practice which is unheard of these days). It was a badge of honor with us boys. One day Mr. Dandridge came with a paddle that had holes in it. That thing sure did sting. My God have blessed Mr. Dandrige for he certainly blessed us for having known him.

Buck" hired me to be the media specialist at Mascotte Elementary back in the 1980's and I enjoyed working for and with him. He was a real Southern gentleman at all times!
So very sorry about Mr. Dandridge. He and Mrs. Dandridge had a large impact on my life. Her love of science guided me into a 45 year career in the medical field. Mr. Dandridge's lessons on the Constitution and government policy have remained with me since High School. They were such wonderful role models and great teachers.
So sorry to hear about Mr. Dandridge's passing. He will be remembered fondly by many.
I worked as a substitute teacher at Mount Dora Middle School under "Buck." My children were students of his at MDMS. He took an interest in all his students and remembered them when he saw them years later.
My memories of Coach Dandridge are of respect, community and just knowing that he really cared about each of his students. I am sure we all gave him pause for thought at one point or another, but he continued to encourage us to do our best. Thank you Buck Dandridge.
