Grace Amelia LaPierre's Obituary
Grace Amelia LaPierre (Laird), 75, of Eustis, Florida passed away at home on Tuesday May 2, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, friends, and her dog, Stryder.
She was born on April 14, 1948 in Buffalo, New York to her late parents Charles and Theodora Laird. Grace worked in the Garment District and in fashion in New York City in the 1970s, primarily modeling bridal gowns. Grace continued her love for beauty and style throughout her life. She volunteered for the Look Good Feel Better Program of the American Cancer Society, dedicating her time and passion to women undergoing cancer treatments. Grace spent her later years working in many levels of retail, her final years with Mount Dora Olive Oil Company, where she shared her love for cooking and entertaining.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John LaPierre. Grace and John met and married in the late 1980s and were married 30 years at the time of John’s passing in 2019. Grace always said that John was her “knight in shining armor”. Their marriage and family were their greatest source of joy, especially their grandchildren.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Michelle (LaPierre) Gallaugher (and Gary) of Stuarts Draft, VA; her son, Matthew LaPierre (and Kelly) of Altoona, Fl; her grandchildren, Ian (and Rachel) Gallaugher, Emma Gallaugher, and Gunner LaPierre. She is also survived by her nephews and niece; her dear cousins; and her brother-in-law, Paul LaPierre (and Cyndi).
Grace will be missed deeply by her family and friends, and her joyous laughter will ring forever in the hearts of those who loved her. While she battled with cancer, she remained present and dedicated to her family and friends, by her giving and loving nature; the epitome of “grace”. Wife. Mom. Grandma Grace and Nana. Sister. Friend. Model. Teacher. A true Lady. Gardener Extraordinaire. Wine lady and Miller Lite girl. Cheers to “Gal”.
John and Grace will be interred together at Florida National Cemetery with a private celebration at a
later day.
Arrangements entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors.
