George Adeeb Katen's Obituary
George Adeeb Katen, 78, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away on May 26, 2026, after a long illness.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, George was the beloved son of the late Adeeb and Elsie Katen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Paula; his daughter, Christine; son-in-law, Michael; brother, Fred; and nephew, Scott Katen. He also leaves behind numerous other family members, neighbors, and friends who will miss him dearly.
George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later as an Auxiliary Police Officer in New York City and Bloomfield, CT. He built a successful career as a technology executive retiring from Cigna and moved to Florida in 2003. In retirement, he generously shared his knowledge with his community, serving as a weekly “Geek Squad” advisor—helping neighbors with their PCs, cell phones, and technology needs.
An avid golfer who achieved five hole-in-ones, George was also the biggest New York Jets fan imaginable, remaining loyal through thick and thin. Those who knew him will remember his outgoing personality, quick wit, and warm presence. A man of high moral character and fierce patriotism, he deeply loved his family, his God, and his country.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date. A separate military memorial service with full honors, including a 21-gun salute, will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in George’s memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
