Eugene A. Baker Sr.'s Obituary
Eugene A. Baker Sr. of Orange City, formerly of Mount Dora, passed away on January 21, 2015. He moved to Mount Dora in 2002 from Santa Maria, California. He was retired electrical engineer for Bell Laboratories, a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Mount Dora and of the Knights of Columbus at his church. Eugene was a veteran having served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and had been a member of the Elks Lodge in Santa Maria. Eugene was also an avid Ham Radio Operator beginning at age twelve, where on Long Island, N.Y., he created the first documented television interference for General Electric with a single wire antenna shot from his bedroom window to a nearby tree using just a hand held sling shot. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 2008. He is survived by his children; Eugene A. Baker Jr. of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Karen F. (Bill) Barto of Tavares, Florida, Christine A. Stafford of Orange City, Florida, and his grandchildren; Jennifer, Stephen Jr, and Derek.
Graveside services will be held in Pine Forest Cemetery, Mount Dora at 4 PM on Friday, February 20th.
