I was so sorry to read in the paper today of the passing of Judge Aulls. I am a lawyer from Orlando who had the privilege of trying case in front of Judge Aulls. It was always a pleasure to be in courtroom. He might have some fun with me because I did not have on a white shirt or because my hair was too long, but never in my 34 years of practice have I ever been in front of a judge who was more prepared, applied the law so carefully and who was uniformly courteous and fair to those who came before him. In my mind he exemplified just what a Judge should be like. I once tried a case with him that involved some esoteric points of law involving the UCC, that frankly I did not understand until just before the trial. I was amazed that when I started raising these points he had been way ahead of the trial lawyers and was quoting the provisions to us chapter and verse even though neither of us had briefed the points prior to the trial. I realized later he understood our case better than we did and he was patient enough to wait for us to catch up to him. He was a true gentleman, a wonderful lawyer, a wise Judge and he will be missed.##imported-begin##Thomas Kane##imported-end##
