Although we never met her ourselves, she was very kind and considerate to our son Martin, we thank her for that and are saddened to hear of her passing.
Please accept our deepest sympathy.

Janie was my very first instructor back in 1977. I was 13 when I started taking glider lessons with her. I credit her detailed instruction and requirement to do things right with helping me through a 20-year career as an Air Force pilot. From Janie, I learned that you could do things by the book and still have an amazingly good time flying. She really got my flying career off on the right foot and I'll always be thankful to her for that. My prayers are with all of her family.

I met Janie in 2000 as we were both teaching Kindergarten at Milestones Community School. Her interest in the well-being and teaching of her students was always the most important thing in her day. Yes she was a pilot and flight instructor but that was what she did when she wasn't in school! Ellen Waldrop
The lovely person I knew as Janie was a caring, compassionate kindergarten teacher.
I enjoyed lunches with her, after we quit teaching, and sharing stories about students.
I didn't know her passion was flying until a year after I met her. My favorite story was when she told about the joy of soaring the thermals with a bald eagle. I would have loved to have joined her there. May she now be free of the fetters of earth's health trials and soar with the eagles and angels. She will be missed.
