Dolores Ruth Coyle's Obituary
Dolores Ruth Coyle, age 98 passed away on January 14, 2021 in Tavares, Florida. Dolores was born April 8, 1922 in Monroeville, Pennsylvania to Christian L. Metzger and Mathilda Foertsch. She grew up in Pennsylvania, married and started a family soon after graduating high school. She met her husband, Edward W Coyle at the local roller-skating rink where they tripped each other and landed in a heap. They had five children that she was devoted to as a homemaker. She sewed Halloween costumes and the girls’ school dresses, enjoyed gardening and canning her vegetables and loved baking the children’s favorite cookies but disliked cooking chores. After moving to the Buffalo, NY area, Dolores belonged to the East Aurora Home Bureau, volunteered at the local senior center, and sold many of her delicate thread-crochet angels. As grandchildren arrived, she spoiled them equally and thoroughly. Dolores lovingly nursed her Eddie in his final years until his death in 1998. On moving to Florida, Dolores volunteered for Neighbors Helping Neighbors and as a longtime member of the Royal Harbor Bear Club, crocheted more than 200 blankets for the children of the Paul Newman Boggy Creek Camp. In her last years she continued to crochet and teach others with the Osprey Lodge Crochet Club. She enjoyed playing cards and strategy games, making no apology for beating you. Dolores had many friends among the residents and staff of Osprey Lodge. She was always quick with a smile and a hug or to poke fun at others including naming all the young men who worked at Osprey her “boyfriends”.
Dolores is survived by her five children: Carolyn Knapp, Spring Hill, FL, Thomas Coyle, Spring Hill, FL, Barbara Hazle, Clayton, NC, Janice Coyle-Dennis, Billings, MT and Dolores Reidy, Eden, NY, eleven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. No memorial services will be held at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic but gifts may be made in her honor to Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, FL.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on the tribute wall.
Services have been entrusted to Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Directors, Eustis.
