Deanna Carter Hand Ford's Obituary
Deanna Carter Hand Ford, age 84, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024 in Mount Dora, Florida. Deanna was the youngest child of David (Sr.) and Delana Carter who were pioneers of the East Volusia County area. Deanna was the youngest of their 5 children and actually grew up in a log cabin on Nova Road. She was a 1957 graduate of Mainland Senior High School and attended Columbia Bible College in South Carolina. Deanna worked for Sun Trust (Exchange Bank/Sun Bank) Daytona Beach and Holly Hill branches for over 30 years and at the time of her retirement served as a branch Vice President.
One of Deanna’s most memorable traits was her wonderful laugh. Joy surrounded her and her love of her lord was obvious. Deanna was a member of Daytona Christian Church for over 50 years and was active in various children’s ministries and she had a positive impact on many children as a child evangelist during afterschool programs around Volusia County.
She had a deep love for gardening and was known for always having a beautiful yard, but she was happiest when spending time with her grandsons who will always cherish their times with “Grand Mommy”.
Deanna was pre-deceased by her first husband of 28 years, Marlin Hand; her second husband of 19 years, Bill Ford, siblings, Cleo, David Jr., Bob, and Donnie. Survivors include her son, Brian Hand, daughter, Bev (Jimmy) Semesco; grandsons, Hunter (Eleanora) Semesco, and Carter Semesco; and many adored nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Volusia Memorial Gardens, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida with Reverend Ed Buete serving as officiant.
Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
