Pastor Cynthia Howland deVos' Obituary
PASTOR CYNTHIA HOWLAND deVos
September 1, 1947- August 30 ,2025
Cynthia Howland deVos of Mount Dora passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025 at one of her favorite places overlooking the water near her happy getaway place in Indialantic, FL. She was born just outside Boston, Ma. and resided in Connecticut until she moved to Florida in 1972.
Cynthia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother , sister and friend whose great faith and love touched every life she encountered. She shared many happy and love filled year’s of marriage with her husband Peter L. deVos and they were about to enter their 58th year together August 31. Together they built a family rooted in love, strength and the belief in Jesus Christ. She was the proud mother of Lee deVos (Kristin) and Todd deVos (Stephen ) and cherished grandmother of Marcus and Lucas deVos.
Her life’s calling was to serve her Lord as a Pastor, a role she embraced with great zeal, compassion, wisdom and a loving heart open to all. Cynthia found great joy in helping others grow in their faith and in holding their hand and walking beside them during life’s most difficult and blessed moments. She was also very active in the community and served on the Board of Directors for Lake Cares Food Pantry, her homeowner association and was currently serving her 6th year on the Board of Directors of Advent Hospital Waterman.
When she wasn’t ministering or caring for her family, Cynthia loved spending quiet hours as an avid reader, enjoying the beauty of the beach, tending to her gardens and sharing laughter and stories with those she loved most. Her very presence was a source of warmth, love and comfort and her legacy will live through the countless lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who were blessed to know her.
A Remembrance of her life was held for family only.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
