Constance J. "Connie" Oatney's Obituary
Constance J. "Connie" Oatney 89, of Mount Dora, passed away on August 9, 2017. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio and moved to Mount Dora from Wildwood in 2014. Connie was Pentecostal and had previously enjoyed the Order of the Eastern Star and Kiwanis International.
Her family was blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Constance Oatney during her near 90 years, among them: Love your family unconditionally. That's what God does with us. Treat people the way you would want to be treated, you get good service that way. Be a blessing to someone everyday, yours may be the only smile they see that day. Give flowers to the living. Connie was a tireless prayer warrior for most of the years of her life. No wonder she was sought after to become the executive director of United Way of Fairfield County in Lancaster, Ohio for nearly 20 years before retiring to Florida. She continued to pour over a prayer lists including family, friends and people unknown to her during the wee hours of the morning. She never met a stranger. A true angel on earth has gone home to glory as her purpose is fulfilled. Connie is survived by three children; Brent (Susan) Oatney of Partridge, Kansas, Brenda (Stephen) Simpson of Eustis and Belinda Smith of Ft. Myers, Florida, eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as two "sisters" Miriam and Norma. She was predeceased by her husband Dale in 2006, her parents; Rex Percelle and Josephine Lasure Percelle, her son; Bruce Alan Oatney, two grandchildren; Blake Smith and Kelsey Smith and her brother; Robert Percelle. Memorial services will be held in the Chapel of Waterman Village on Tuesday, August 15th at 3 PM with Pastor Jonathan Miller presiding. The family will greet friends from 2 PM until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either New Beginnings Church, 6859 Edgewater Commerce Parkway, Orlando, FL 32810 or to Progeny Family Training Center, 6471 Lithopolis Winchester Road, Canal Winchester, OH 43110.
