Cleve Lewis Atkins' Obituary
Cleve Lewis Atkins 86, of Eustis, FL, passed away on April 30, 2011, with his loving wife and family at his side. Born Dec 6, 1924. Cleve served proudly in the US Army Air Corp during WWII as a Bombardier on the B-24 Liberator named Appassionata flying five missions on D-Day over Normandy, 24 missions in all and was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart. After his active duty, Cleve worked for Proctor-Gamble as a salesman, and then began his real estate career as co-owner of Atkins & Shearouse Realtors. Later in his career, he formed Atkins-Green-Stauffer and Clark Realtors. When AGSC was bought out by Merrill Lynch Realty and then later sold to Prudential Florida Realty, he decided to strike out on his own and formed Atkins-Elrod & Company, Realtors until retirement in 2004. During his retirement, he enjoyed working in the Atkins grove. Cleve was very active in his community. In 1967, he served as President of the South Orlando Kiwanis and in 1971 he was President of the Orlando-Winter Park Board of Realtors. He also served as President of the Orlando Touchdown Club and the Board of Trustees of Lucerne Hospital. He was proud to be alumni of the University of Florida and a loyal fan of the Gators. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Hannah Atkins, son Scott Atkins (wife Dee); daughter Julie Tzobanakis (husband Tom); step-son Charles Johnson; three grandchildren, Steven Atkins (wife Cara), Monica Frost (husband Justin) and Chace Gupton; two step-grandchildren Dean Tzobanakis and Anthony Tzobanakis; and two great-grandchildren Tyler and BreAnna Atkins. Services will be held at Park Lake Presbyterian Church in Orlando Friday, May 6th at 11:00 AM.
