Charles Hayden "Chuck" Messer's Obituary
Charles Hayden “Chuck” Messer 86, of Eatonton, Georgia passed away on January 7th. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio and moved to Eatonton from Tavares in 2006. Chuck was a retired Supervisor for Crown Cork and Seal in Mount Plymouth and a Veteran having served in the United States Navy. He was an avid hunter, woodworker and was of the Baptist faith. Chuck is survived by his wife Lyda; they were married for 64 years. Also surviving are his children Vicki Shockley of McDonough, Georgia, Jill Messer of Mount Dora, Eric Messer of Danville, Georgia and Judi (Chip) Davis of Eustis, nine grandchildren also survive; Joshua Shockley, Matthew (Naiomi) Shockley, Mary Shockley, Zachary Heitling, Erin Messer (Jason) Bergstrom, Allison Messer, Sarah Gill (Sammy) Rimes, Hayden (Alexandria) Gill and Joshua Davis, great grandchildren; Gracie Shockley, Rowan Shockley, Sophia Rimes and Landon Bergstrom. Chuck was predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Rebecca in 2001. Funeral services were in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel Saturday, January 12th at 11 AM with Pastor Paul Hurst officiating, interment with Military Honors followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis. The family received friends from 10 AM until the funeral hour.
