Charles F. LaBelle's Obituary
Charles F. La Belle passed away peacefully at age 84, November 2, 2016. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio January 3, 1932. He joined the active Navy Reserves in 1949 as Petty Officer 1st. Class. He was an advert motorcycle rider all his life. He loved his woodshop making toys and holiday items. He worked as a Custodian for the Cleveland Board of Education. He moved to Lauderdale Lakes, Florida and soon became the first paid Fire Chief. After ten years in Lauderdale Lakes, he moved to Lake County, Florida. He worked for Parks and Recreation and retired after some twenty years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Lakes Church. He belonged to Florida State Fireman's Association, as District Vice President, a life member of Broward County Fireman's Association, member of the Harley Davidson Dresser Club, American Motorcycle Association, Harley Owner's Group, volunteer Fire Chief of Altoona, South Forest and Rolling Woods Fire Departments, member of The Red Knights Motorcycle Club, and American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Carol La Belle, his son, Gene (Corinne) La Belle, proceeded by his sons, Charlie and Douglas La Belle, granddaughters, Cheri (Eric) Richardson, Felicia La Belle (Roy Smith) and great- grandchildren, Alex La Belle, Jayden La Belle, Lily Smith and Sebastian Richardson. A memorial is planned at his residence December 3, 2016 for family and close friends. It is asked you bring an unwrapped toy gift for Toys for Tots.
