Charles Robert "Bob" Furnas' Obituary
Charles Robert “Bob” Furnas of Eustis, Florida passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the age of 79 years. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to central Florida in 1938. Bob attended Tavares High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from THS in 1954. He went on to attend college and started his accounting career at Howey Academy as the Bursar. In July 1965, Bob began working at Lake-Sumter Junior College and was there until March 1981. He owned and operated an appliance store in Wildwood before joining Lake County Schools in 1982. He served the school district for 16 years, as the Director of Finance, before his retirement in 1998. Following retirement he worked as a consultant for the conversion charter schools in an accounting capacity. Bob is remembered and will be dearly missed by his daughters, Michele F. Hoppenstedt (Jack) of Howey-in-the-Hills and Doris A. Pardo of The Villages; son Robert A. Furnas (Renee) of Leesburg; sister, Sylvia M. Corbley of Marlton, NJ; brothers, Bill Furnas of Eustis and John Furnas of Port Orange; as well as 7 grandchildren (Jenny, Jessica, Chaz, Dayna, Jared, Ashton and Grant) and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma J. Furnas of Akron, OH. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, August 19th from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm. A memorial ceremony will start at 5:30 pm, all in the funeral home chapel.
