Carroll Lee Payne's Obituary
Carroll Lee Payne, 84, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Wichita Falls, TX. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Hillcrest Memorial Garden in Leesburg, Florida.
Carroll was born in Washington, D. C. on February 1, 1930 to Herman Payne and Gladys (Oliver) Payne. Carroll served in the Merchant Marines and U. S. Navy Reserve. While in the Naval Reserve, he had the honor of marching the inaugural parade of Harry Truman.
Carroll was married to his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Pick Payne for 48 wonderful years. He worked for Thompson's Dairy as a milk home delivery man for 19 years then later retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 12 years of service.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy and one grandchild.
Survivors are his wife Pauline Fletcher 'Cookie' Payne; sons Steven Payne and wife Karen of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and David Payne and wife Wendy of Panama City Beach, FL; daughters, Susan Price and husband Glen of Flagler, FL and Patricia Latourneau of Rockville, MD; step-children, Mindy Haynes and husband Gary and Chuck Brown and wife Jessica, all of Iowa Park, TX; 15 grandchildren, Christopher and wife Mariah, Shane and wife Shelly, Danial and wife Catherine, Brian, Sean, Victoria, Kaden, Tanner, Keaton, Kenakie, Gage, Jesse, Jakob, Jennefer and Jules; also three great granddaughters.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 76310 or to Special Olympics, 710 Lamar, Suite 430, Wichita Falls, TX, 76301. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
