I am very sorry to learn of Carolyn's passing. She was part of the old Eustis I remember. After we moved from Ohio to Mary Street in 1945 I recall that She and James rented an apartment from Mrs. Sheppard at the north end of the block and Betty Sellers and her brood lived across the street from her. I have often thought about sitting down with her to discuss the old days, and I regret I never did. I often saw her in her yard and will miss seeing her as part of our neighborhood now on Deidrich Street. I noted earlier this year the tragic loss of her son. After the loss of James she had much to bravely bear. Her passing is notable in the history of Eustis as both a Kennnedy and an Alger.
Since 1960, when we moved here from Virginia, Carolyn was our neighbor from 2 doors down. This has been 58 years. We couldn't have had a more wonderful neighbor and friend. The neighbors would visit nightly in our back yard and Carolyn would often visit. She was so interesting since she was able to talk about her growing up here and the local history that we never know of. She often talked about her Dad's Machine Shop at Lake Eustis and how much she enjoyed going there to help her Dad. We would read the newspaper daily and then take it to her so she could work the puzzle. She was a good neighbor and a great friend and she will be dearly missed.
What a wonderful neighbor, co-worker and friend. Carolyn and her family lived down the street from me, we worked at the phone company together, made trips to Tennessee to visit Susan and shared laughs and stories. She will be greatly missed.
