Carol Bindon Fuller's Obituary
Carol Fuller, 95, of Mount Dora, passed away on March 7, 2026. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 1, 1930, Carol moved with her parents and two older brothers to a farm in Harbert, Michigan, in 1938. They lived a short distance from Lake Michigan. Initially, the family had no electricity. They raised crops and farm animals to support themselves, with the entire family pitching in. To get to school, Carol rode her pony to the local one-room schoolhouse. Although one day, while walking home from school with a friend, they were run over by a truck. Fortunately, they suffered only minor injuries.
From early childhood and throughout her life, church and faith were central to Carol’s life. Harbert Community Church was the center of Carol and her family’s spiritual and social life.
After graduating from high school, Carol attended Benton Harbor Community College. Then at twenty-one, she traded her small-town life for that of a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines. After training in Miami, Carol’s first base was New York City. It was there that she met her first husband and the father of her children, Donald Goodrum. They married in 1951 in New York City. Later, as a single mother raising three children, Carol worked for a Delta Air Lines executive in Atlanta.
Carol married Tom Fuller in 1967 in East Point, Georgia. They moved their new blended family to St. Petersburg, Florida, and then to Simsbury, Connecticut. After the kids were grown and on their own, they decided to make Mt. Dora their home in 1978. Tom had a securities firm, and Carol opened a gift shop.
Carol thrived on community involvement. She served as President of the Kiwanis Club of Mount Dora, as a Mount Dora City Councilwoman, and was involved with organizations including the Ice House Theatre and Sister Cities. She was also proud to be the longest-standing member of the Mount Dora Yacht Club.
Preceded in death by her husband Thomas Fuller, daughters Karen Goodrum Ferree, stepdaughter Rebecca Barner, parents Roy and Caroline Bindon, and brothers Jack and Roy Bindon. She is survived by her son, Don Goodrum (Michelle), their children Jenna Goodrum (Jacob), and Sara Thomson (Colton); daughter Lisa Brown (Jerry), their children Audrey Goodwin (Brad), Alex Brown, and Nelson Brown; stepdaughter Grace Fuller (Barry), and Grace’s children Thom Stanton (Midge) and Clint Stanton; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Saint Edwards Episcopal Church in Mount Dora, Florida, on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Following the service, a reception will take place at the Mount Dora Yacht Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Kiwanis Club of Mount Dora, Florida.
