Carol Smith Ebert's Obituary
Carol Smith Ebert, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, at the age of 88. A long-time Florida resident since September 1965, Carol was born on September 2, 1936, in Anderson, South Carolina, to parents Randal P. Smith and Ernestine Smith.
Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Robert E. Ebert Jr., a long-time resident of Lakeview Terrace. Together, they shared a life filled with love, faith, and devotion. They were married on February 26, 1955, at The Little Church around the Corner in New York City.
She is survived by her children: Dr. Robert Ebert (Sandra Ebert), Elisabeth Slotkin (Steven Slotkin), and Wendy Holland (Michael Holland). Carol's memory will live on through her cherished grandchildren: Candace Patricia Borales, Cristy Carol Garcia, Dr. Chris Holland, Nicholas Holland, Lauren Holland, Nathan Holland, Ariel Fitzpatrick, Melanie Slotkin, and the late Katie Slotkin. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Ben Young, Penny and Koa Borales, Gavin and Callie Garcia, Xander Lowery, and Judah and Nora Holland.
Carol is also survived by her dear nieces and nephews: Marian Nee, Porter Smith, Mike Ebert, Cole Ebert, and Suni Ann Ebert, as well as cousins Lacey and Lee Hansen.
A devoted member of Mount Dora Baptist Church, Carol was passionate about her faith and served as a Bible student and evangelist throughout her life. She was an active member of the Lady Fingers Piano Club, loved gardening, and was a skilled concert pianist. Carol was also an accomplished sailor, swimmer, and amateur radio enthusiast with an extra amateur rating.
Carol enjoyed a successful career as a Florida Realtor, and she was known for her kindness, generosity, and love for her community.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Lakeview Terrace Community Center, located at 200 Clubhouse Vista Rd, Altoona, FL 32702. Pastor Jerry Smith will officiate the service. A brief reception will follow in the community center dining room.
