Bernita Belle Hudson's Obituary
Bernita McMahon Hudson, 92, passed away on December 22nd at her home in Eustis, FL surrounded by her family. Bernita was born on March 8, 1924 in Durand, Illinois to Stuart and Verna Baker. She is preceded in death by her parents as well as her only brother, Leighton. When Bernita was young she had to overcome some great challenges which instilled in her a unique fighting spirit with which she carried through her entire life. Her courage knew no bounds. Bernita had two great loves of her life and is preceded in death by her first husband; Robert McMahon (1956) and her second husband Paul Hudson (1981). She spent many years caring for others as a nurse at Waterman Memorial Hospital. Bernita is survived by her six children; Michael, Gregory (Bonnie), Terrance, Jeffery (Katie), Paul Jr. (Clara), and Maribeth; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Bernita was a devoted mother and grandmother, had a great love for her animals, enjoyed reading mysteries and watching old movies, and was always dressed to the nines with her famous red hair and her love for the color purple. Services will be held Monday, January 2nd, 2017 at Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home in Eustis, FL. Family and friends are invited to gather from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm with the ceremony starting at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Cornerstone Hospice and Lake County Humane Society. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
