Benjamin F. "Ben" Dodson's Obituary
Benjamin F. “Ben” Dodson age 96; passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021. He was born in 1925 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was a Veteran of the United State Marine Corps. He served as a pilot in WWII, married an amazing woman (Aunt Bernice was Dwight D Eisenhower's secretary), worked in the refrigeration industry for over 40 years, retired and lived next to his brother in Central Florida for the rest of his life.
Ben was predeceased by his wife of 70 years Bernice and is survived by many nieces and nephews around the country.
He was a member of the Altoona United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 76 in Tavares, Florida. Ben was always quick with a joke, he had tons of amazing stories from his travels all around the world, loved to go on cruises, always a snazzy dresser, and loved his wife every day of his life. He is the last of a great generation of amazing Dodson's. He loved his country, loved his family, and we will all miss him each and every day.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Hamlin & Hilbish, 326 E. Orange Ave. Eustis, FL on Friday, August 20 from 9:30 until 10:00 AM. A funeral ceremony will start at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. A committal ceremony with military honors is scheduled for 1:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
