Beatrice "Bea" Curtis- Richardson's Obituary
Bea was born in Norway, Maine to Madeline and John Dwinal Tyner. When she was 8 Yrs old she gained a baby brother, James, and lost her father to a lightening strike that same year. After graduating from Norway HS, she attended and graduated from Auburn Maine School of Commerce. Later that same day she married an Irishman from Boston named Joe Richardson. Together they had 5 children and raised them in the little town of North Livermore, Maine. At the age of 48 she was widowed and finished raising her children alone.
Bea had a passion for music and was blessed with a beautiful Solo voice and natural talent for whistling. She sang and whistled her way through life, performing in school musicals, operettas, and stage performances at the Lakeside resort where she worked as a waitress.
She went on the sing in many different church and community choirs, even into her 90’s.
She was an independent, brave, and adventurous woman. Her love for travel took her around the US and overseas. At the age of 87 she joined her oldest son, Skip, on the trip of her lifetime in Africa. They enjoyed a 12 day private safari across the planes of Tanzania.
Most of her retirement years were spent in Florida where she was active with golf, swimming, shuffleboard, community plays, and other activities.
For the past 10 years Grammie B’s days were filled with time spent reading and playing with her great grandchildren.
Many people loved her very much, including her 5 children and their spouses, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
In the words of our Dad, Joe, “You’re a real Corker Bea.” Her final resting place will be at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
We love you Mom.
