Barbara Ann Smith's Obituary
Barbara Ann Smith, age 86, of Lawrenceburg, TN, formerly of Leesburg, FL passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025.
Born on March 9, 1939 in East Cleveland, Ohio she was the eldest daughter of the late John R. Bauman and Rita Quinn Bauman. She graduated from Villa Angela High School. She met the love of her life J. Neil Smith at her family’s cottage at Restful Lake and married July 5, 1958. They raised a family and Barbara worked in various careers in her lifetime.
Barbara and Neil spent their active retirement years in sunny Florida. She especially enjoyed planning activities with The Boat Club, walking her dog Maggie, attending church, baking for friends, swimming and making new friends.
She will be remembered for her loyalty as a homemaker, her passionate leadership skills, and her dedication to service. Known to many as “Bluebird”, she had loved her life as a Girl Scout and Leader.
Those who will miss Barbara who is also known as “Mom”, “Bluebird”, “G-Ma”, “Grandma-Great”, include her four children “The Kingswood Kids” Gary Smith (Pam), Michelle Ladd (the late C. Don Ladd), Sharon DeVaney (Brad), and Angela Gibbons (Russell); her grandchildren, Allison Knight (Rob), Dr. Amanda Brown (Dr. Marcus Brown), Joseph Smith (Amanda), AJ Smith, John Martin Gibbons (Danielle), and Jonah DeVaney (Olivia); her great-grandchildren, Averie Smith, Brendon Smith, Jaxon Knight, Colton Brown, Brantley Brown, Tatum Knight, Willa Mae Gibbons; her four siblings, Nancy Mahoney, Robert Bauman, RitaJane Tobasko, Joanne McDonald (Jack).
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Tom Bauman and her loving husband of 56 years, Joseph Neil Smith.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the angels at The Summit, Senior Advantage, Country Cottage and Compassus for the care they provided to our mother.
A graveside service will be held in Eustis, FL on Saturday, October 18th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeside Memory Gardens and a Celebration of Life Mass will be held in Lawrenceburg, TN at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrenceburg, TN at a later date.
