Barbara Cloud's Obituary
“Bobbi”, as she was known throughout her life, was born in Willmette, Illinois to Edna and Edward Khonigon 1939 and grew up in suburban Chicago as an only child. A book publisher and photographer for the University of Chicago, Edward was of Armenian descent. Edward was a gifted and enthusiastic banjo player. Edna was an accountant and gentle-natured homemaker.
Bobbi graduated from Maine East High School in Park Ridge, Illinois in 1957. She attended Florida Southern College, Florida’s oldest four-year college located in Lakeland and affiliated with the United Methodist Church. At Florida Southern, Bobbi pledged Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After college, she began a career in elementary education with the Orange County Florida Public School System. She joined on early at Dommerich Elementary School which opened in 1965 in the youthful and thriving Maitland section of greater Orlando, Florida. There she taught fifth grade.
After a brief first marriage, she met the love of her life, Jerry Douglas Cloud, who passed this world in late 2020. The two were married in the summer of 1970. Together they enlarged a home in the Dommerich Woods section of Maitland to raise their combined families surrounded by suburban Florida families. The house was next to a small creek that Jerry improved year by year with dams and water features to Bobbi's delight.
In 1971 they gave birth to a son who expanded their extended family to four children. Once the children were out of college they moved out of Maitland and resettled in a exposed beam, Tudor-styled home on Lake Swatara in Eustis, Florida where they lived the remainder of their lives together as Lake County residents. A lifelong redhead, Bobbi was known for a refreshingly upbeat disposition, outspoken personality, and unshakable religious faith. Together with Jerry, she was involved with bible study and affiliated at Asbury Methodist Church in Maitland for the entirety of their 50-year marriage.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Lorinda Pearce Langin, her son, Kendrick Edward Cloud, two-stepchildren, Kim Cloud Locke and Chris Cloud, six grandchildren, Samuel, William, Kaitlyn, Charlie, Max, and Skyler and her bonus son, Joe (JJ) Justice.
A gathering will be held on Tuesday January 28, 2025 from 10 AM- 10:20 AM, with a service immediately to follow at Asbury United Methodist Church in Maitland, Florida. Following the service there will be a reception at the church and the burial will take place at Pine Forest Cemetery in Mount Dora, Florida at 1 PM.
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Corinthians 13:13
