Andrew Gasper Jr.'s Obituary
Andrew Gasper Jr. 79, of Sorrento, passed away on May 5, 2013. He was born in Mount Pleasant, New York and moved here from Port St. Lucie in 2012.
Andrew, known to most as Andy, had a love for flight which started with college and never stopped. He attended New York University and studied Avionics. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served in Korea and was awarded the Air Medal. His career had him residing up and down the east coast, in California and back. Andrew retired a senior electrical engineer from IBM, Boca Raton Fl. in1993. In retirement he returned to do what he loved, flying. He built a home with a hanger just so he could fly when he wanted. Most recently, he enjoyed simply sitting on the porch watching the sunset and birds flying by.
Andrew is survived by his wife Patricia; they were married for 52 years. Also surviving are his daughters; Karen (Peter) Adams of Scotts Valley, California, Carolyn Gasper of Walnut Creek, California, Cathy (Matthew) Tiedge of Oviedo, Florida and Joanne (Bryan) Bradburn also of Oviedo, his grandchildren; Ross Adams, James Adams, Christopher Tiedge, Taylor Tiedge and Meghan Bradburn and his brother, Robert (Sharon) Gasper of Schenectady, New York.
The family requests memorials be given to Rivenburgh Memorial Fund, Catskill United Methodist Church, 40 Woodland Avenue, Catskill NY 12414. This fund offers camp scholarships to children up to the age of 18, in Catskill, New York
The Memorial Service for Andrew will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora. A reception in honor and memory of Andy is being held immediately following the service.
