To the family of Al Long
My wife (Deb) and I met Al Long at the reunions of the 69th division in Gettysburg and Cleveland in recent years.
We so enjoyed meeting and chatting with him there and continued our friendship by phone and letters since then. He was an especially vibrant warm-hearted fellow that befriended us quickly and fully,
As my father (Larry Byrnes) passed away many years ago (1978) it was such a treat to meet an ole comrade in arms from the war and especially someone as fun, funny and engaging as Al. I don’t think my dad and Al knew each other during the war , but I know my dad would have loved him as well and that they are both together now in an eternal peace.
Best wishes to Al Long’s family in adjusting to his passing
