I was so sorry to read of Joan's passing. I was the school secretary at Jackson Heights School for many years - just retiring last year. Joan was teaching fifth grade when I started there. We became friends. After she retired she kept in touch with a Christmas letter most years and a couple of times she took a few of out for lunch at Suttons toward the end of the school year. She sure knew how to have a good time! After she retired she traveled amd participated in so many activities while in Florida. I once told her she should be the poster child for retirement. My sincere sympathy to Joan's husband, Ray, and to her family. She will be missed. Claudia Devine

I'll always remember my aunt Joan from the summers of my childhood. She created a brightness and a lighthearted feeling that if I close my eyes, I can be brought right back to that time and I smile. I can remember her always supporting my education and going further, my love of books. Many years have passed since those summers, but that is how she will always remain in my memories, young, vibrant and full of life. Rest in peace, aunt Joan, for a life well lived. My love, sympathy and prayers are with Uncle Ray and my cousins and family.
