Olga Arjibay Wood, of Grand Island, Florida, passed away after a long illness on Monday, November 16, 2020. She was 78. Olga is survived by her son Carl and daughter-in-law Pamela of Norman, Oklahoma; her sister Tayra of Longmont, Colorado; her nephews Albert, Tony, and Turin of Lake County; nieces Mariane of Lake County and Tanya of Anderson, South Carolina; sister-in-law Pauline of Lake County; grand nieces Angela and Samantha of Lake County, Kasey of Anderson, South Carolina, and BoAnn of Volusia County; and several cousins. Olga was preceded in death by her father Antonio, mother Olga, brothers Antonio and Arturo, sister-in-law Raquel, nephew Arthur, and grand niece Amanda. Olga was born on May 7, 1942 in Cuba. Her family moved to Georgia in 1951 and eventually to Florida later that decade. She was a graduate of Edgewater High School in Orlando, and received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Oklahoma. Following college, she worked for the NCR Corporation in Wichita, Kansas, Greenville, South Carolina, and Columbia, South Carolina. Following retirement, she relocated to Grand Island, Florida. Olga was a bright and pleasant soul, who cared deeply for her family and friends. She was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and her favorite player was Yogi Berra. She rooted for the Miami Dolphins and was a longtime season ticket holder for the Oklahoma Sooners football team. Olga loved classic cars, old-time movies, and Elvis. She enjoyed crochet, creating scrapbooks, and doing word puzzles. She was a proud Cancer survivor and a devoted Christian. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Olga’s name to the American Cancer Society or to the First United Methodist Church of Eustis, 600 S Grove St, Eustis, FL 32726. Olga requested that no services be performed, but the family plans to hold a Celebration of Life sometime in the spring of 2021. Her ashes will be interred at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Eustis, Florida.
