December 3, 1931 - July 2, 2021
On Friday, July 2nd, 2021, C. Robert Crow, MD (Bobby, Doc, Crow), father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children at Waterman Hospice in Mount Dora, Florida. He is preceded in death by his beloved son Robert Frederick Crow (Robbie), his brother Herman (Sonny) Crow, his parents and wife Elaine Crow. Born December 3, 1931, in Umatilla, Florida, to Charles Ellison Crow and Lucy Sue Crabb Crow, as a 4th generation Central Floridian. The original family homestead “Crow’s Bluff” was established pre civil war and is located between Deland and Mount Dora. Bobby grew up in the heart of Lake County, Umatilla, Yalaha, and Punkin Center Florida. He graduated Leesburg High School and loved his days as Number 33 on the Leesburg Football team playing quarterback. He graduated Emory Medical School - Class of 1957. He was a Sigma Chi (in hoc). After graduation from Emory - he entered into the Air Force where he became a Captain. After his time served, he and his family moved back to Mount Dora where he worked at his then Father-In-Law, Dr. Fred Vincenti’s Medical Clinic in downtown Mount Dora. He later came to run the Mount Dora Clinic serving the Mount Dora community until 1995. He had the joy of being downtown Mount Dora’s healthcare provider for many years ranging from delivering babies to geriatrics. He delivered multiple generations of children and even made house calls. He always said that one of his favorite perks of being a small town doc was that he could have one of the fastest cars in town for “emergency calls” … which he performed regularly - lol. He served on the Board of Directors of Barnett Bank and he had the privilege of being a 65 year member of the Mount Dora BPOE Elks Lodge. He was a Charter Member and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Bobby’s love of all things hunting, gin rummy, ice cream and vodka are infamous. He was an avid golfer and a proud member of the Gator Nation. He is survived by his son David Crow (Sharon) and daughter Cathy Crow Sparks. His grandchildren Ronnie Hurd (Casidy), Laurie Hurd Cochrane (Travis), Robb Crow and his great grandchildren. His stepchildren Lisa Cox (Mike) and their daughter Lauren Hunt and Wade Hartsfield. As per his wishes, there will be no formal burial service. Instead his family will scatter his ashes on the family homestead (as has been done for multiple generations) along with ashes placed at the Mount Dora Pine Forest Cemetery. So, in honor of this wonderful man - please enjoy a walk in the woods, a game of golf, a bowl of ice cream (topped with creme d’menthe) or a vodka tonic with a game of cards in his honor. Cheers to a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, direct donations to Vitas Healthcare, 127 SR-19 South, Eustis, FL 32726.
